We seek to emphasize collaboration, creativity, compromise and commitment in the productions and courses we offer to KCC students and the Battle Creek/Kalamazoo area at large.
KCC Theatre currently offers two productions each school year: a non-musical 'straight play' in the fall and a musical in the spring. The production season seeks to offer opportunities for KCC students and community members to gain practical and artistic experience both onstage and backstage. We hold open auditions for each show and welcome anyone interested in donating their time and energy in the areas of set construction, stage lighting, stage management or costuming & makeup.
As a part of KCC's Arts and Communications Department, the courses we offer in Acting, Theatre Appreciation, Children's Theatre, Stagecraft and Specialized Studies are aimed at two primary types of student: those looking to transfer to a larger program of theatrical performance or technical study and those seeking an engaging way to broaden life skills that will increase confidence, communication skills, leadership skills and overall personal marketability in the professional, non-artistic world. We understand and believe in the power of live performance at KCC, and we are here to demonstrate what theatre can teach (while entertaining at the same time)!
