Neurodiagnostic technologists (EDT), EEG technologists and electroneurodiagnostic technologists are highly skilled professionals trained to perform electroencephalograms (EEGs) in medical facilities and outpatient centers under the direct supervision of a health care provider. Kellogg Community College’s Neurodiagnostic Technology Program is a certificate program, with the opportunity for students to continue their education for an Associate degree in Applied Science. The program has been developed to be consistent with standards and requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
KCC’s Neurodiagnostic Technology Certificate Program is offered through a partnership with other Michigan community colleges in the Michigan Radiologic and Imaging Science (MiRIS) Consortium. Each college enrolls students in the program under their admission criteria and each awards the degree according to that college’s completion requirements.
Students in the program complete EEG courses delivered in an online environment by one of the MiRIS colleges through Michigan Colleges Online. Clinical education courses are arranged through the MiRIS Consortium’s Program Director in collaboration with the EEG departments of affiliating hospitals, clinics or other EEG provider facilities. Upon completion of the EEG program graduates will be eligible to take the American Board of Registration in Electroencephalographic (ABRET) exam. Upon passing the ABRET exam, neurodiagnostic technologists have earned their R.EEG.T.

Clinical Education Access Requirements
- Students will be required to undergo a physical examination, immunizations, a drug screen and criminal background check prior to and potentially during clinical placement according to MiRIS Consortium policies as required by affiliating clinical education providers.
- Students will be required to maintain certification in Healthcare Provider CPR according to MiRIS Consortium policies as required by affiliating clinical education providers during enrollment in the clinical education courses.
- Students will be required to maintain professional liability insurance according to MiRIS Consortium policies as required by affiliating clinical education providers during enrollment in the clinical education courses.
- Students will be required to adhere to the uniform and personal appearance code according to MiRIS Consortium policies as required by affiliating clinical education providers during enrollment in the clinical education courses.

This program is unique in that all the coursework is online or hybrid with minimal set classroom attendance needed. The program is also run in a cohort, giving the student a learning community to draw upon while in the program.
Clinical learning experiences are provided by affiliating hospitals, clinics and other outpatient facilities. Didactic learning experiences occur in supportive college course work delivered through an online environment and laboratory practice.
