Transitional Studies
Students who need to develop their academic skills in order to be successful in college can enroll in Transitional Studies courses. These courses are designed to help bridge the gap between a student's current skill level and being college-ready.
Many of the general education courses require that students demonstrate an ability to be successful, either by placement test scores or by completing a Transitional Studies course. For some students, based on placement test scores, these courses will be required prior to enrolling in other courses (see course pre-requisites for a listing).
Courses are available in English (TSEN), Mathematics (TSMA), Reading (TSRE), and Learning Strategies (TSLS). Several of these courses are offered in an open-entry format, allowing students to register throughout the semester and work at their own pace. For information on which courses to enroll in, take the COMPASS placement test and see an academic advisor.
