NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Here at Kellogg Community College, we have loads of resources in place to help YOU achieve your goals as a Bruin student. In order to help you get familiar with all the ways KCC is available to support your success, all incoming students will be enrolled in New Student Orientation (NSO) for their first Fall or Spring semester as a Bruin. Research shows that students who go through an orientation earn a higher GPA than those who do not.

Because we have so many student support services, we know that telling you about all of them at once could be a bit much. Instead, throughout that first semester, you will receive weekly communications highlighting one service at a time – one relevant to where you are at in your college experience right then. Checking your KCC email regularly is important so you don’t miss these spotlights!

As a new student, you are encouraged to explore more by practicing your Moodle skills – more details will be provided on NSO’s Moodle (accessed via the KCC Portal) via video and text. We’ll walk you through how to get to Moodle in the first email, don’t worry! Or, visit the week’s highlighted service in-person to get familiar with the friendly faces there!

KCC’s New Student Orientation is self-directed – we want you to know how to access the stuff you find helpful at your own pace. Remember the reason – the “Why” – that led you to Kellogg Community College is important to us; we want you to let us know how we can provide a foundation to your why! Ask questions, be curious, and reach out!

Students can reference text information on KCC’s resources at any time via our New Student Orientation Handbook.
