Testing & Assessment

Kellogg Community College will temporarily offer remote online Accuplacer Placement Testing through Examity, a third-party proctored testing site beginning May 28, 2020.

Examity will cover the following Placements:

  • MATH
  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING (ESL testing for student who English is not their first language)

Students are advised to complete all testing at once, as returning to complete additional test will cost a fee. Initial testing is free

To be eligible to test, you must have completed the KCC Application for admission, and plan to enroll as a KCC student in the Summer or Fall 2020 semester.

  • Before the test:
  • Send an email to testing@kellogg.edu requesting to take the Accuplacer Test. KCC will send you a confirmation email that your request was received.
  • Once Kellogg Community College creates a voucher for you, you will receive an email from Examity with instructions on how to set up a time/date that works for you.
  • Kellogg Community College and Examity require picture identification (ID) to begin testing. You need to have picture ID ready to verify who you are on the day you will be testing.
    • Acceptable forms of picture ID are:
      • Your KCC student photo ID, or any form of current unexpired, government-issued ID such as a driver’s license, Stage of Michigan ID card or passport.
      • Current high school picture ID, if you have recently graduated from high school or are a dual enrolled/early college student.

KCC will monitor test completions daily, and verify that your scores are uploaded to your KCC record so that you can discuss them when you meet with an Academic Advisor.

After the test:

  • Contact Academic Advising at advising@kellogg.edu to schedule a telephone appointment
  • Confirm that your address is verified with the Registrar’s Office. You can do this by taking a picture of your current driver’s license, and emailing it to records@kellogg.edu
  • Complete KCC’s free Online Learner Orientation (KCCS-C100) so that you may register for classes

ATTENTION:  ACT, SAT, and PSAT less than 5-years old, and/or final high school transcript, less than 5-years old with a cumulative non-weighted grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or above, will meet some course placement requirements for registration. Contact Academic Advising for questions.
