ACCUPLACER® is a series of computer-adaptive placement assessments. ACCUPLACER® does not determine admission status with Kellogg Community College. There are three sections of the ACCUPLACER®: sentence skills, reading and math. Sections are not timed, but students generally spend 30-45 minutes on each; expect to spend about 2 hours for all three sections.
Kellogg Community College also utilizes ACT, PSAT, and SAT scores. A student may not need to complete all three sections of the ACCUPLACER®. View the Placement Equivalency Chart below for more information. Please submit ACT, PSAT or SAT scores to Admissions.
Most Kellogg Community College courses have placement prerequisite score requirements, so it is important that you take your time and do your best work. Courses will be recommended based on your placement scores.
If a student has previously taken the ASSET, ACCUPLACER®, COMPASS, PSAT, SAT, ACT or has prior college credits, please speak with an Academic Advisor to determine if further testing is needed.
A government or school-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, high school or college ID, military ID) is required to test.

The placement test may be taken according to the following schedule on a walk-in basis at the Battle Creek campus. The placement schedule is subject to change. Call 269-965-4136 for current schedule information. The placement test may be taken at our satellite campuses by appointment.

Placement Retest Policy
Retest Forms are available at any Kellogg Community College Testing Center. Retesting is allowed for a fee of $5 per section. It is strongly recommended the student complete a review before retesting. The retest fee in non-refundable.
