Faculty & Staff
The faculty and staff within the EMS Program has a broad knowledge base and varied backgrounds. The combination of professional educators, managers, and field personnel make the KCC program both unique and well suited to prepare the student for future practice. Listed below are short biographies of the primary instructors and staff for the EMS program. These are by no means the only instructors you will see as the program uses specialty instructors on a regular basis.
Susan Aiken, B.A. Public Relations, EMS Secretary.
Ms. Aiken has worked for the college for 6 years and is responsible for the clerical support within the EMS Program. Included in her duties, she is part-time secretary for the Calhoun County Medical Control Authority.
Chet Dalski,
Paramedic/IC, RN, B. Sc., NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, EMS Education Director. Mr. Dalski is a professional educator and paramedic with over 20 years experience in the EMS field. He holds an Associates Degree in EMS from Oakland Community College, an Associates Degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College and a Baccalaureate Degree in EMS Management and Biology with a Secondary Education Certificate from Madonna University in Livonia, MI. Mr. Dalski is a Regional Faculty Member of the American Heart Association and CTC Manager for the KCC CTC. He serves as a board member of the Society of Michigan EMT Instructor-Coordinators and a member of the National Association of EMTs and the Michigan Association of EMTs. He serves the Calhoun County Medical Control Authority as Secretary-Treasurer. He holds instructor certifications in ACLS, PALS, BCLS, and BTLS Instructor. He is a Firefighter Instructor with the State of Michigan Firefighter Training Council with certificates in HAZMAT-Operations and Firefighter I. Mr. Dalski is responsible for the overall operations and direction of the EMS Programs at Kellogg Community College.
Paula Lange,
D.O., Medical Director for the Calhoun County Medical Control Authority, Oaklawn Emergency Room and the KCC EMS Program. Dr. Lange is an experienced physician who has worked in the EMS System for the past 15 years. She is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a member of many professional groups including the Southwestern Michigan Trauma Advisory Council, American Osteopathic Association, Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. Her medical direction and abilities are second to none.
Dale Rhode, EMT-B, EMS I/C, M.Sc., Faculty in EMS and Physical Education. Mr. Rhode has been teaching first aid and EMS related programming for the past 33 years. He is certified in BCLS Instructor and BTLS. Mr. Rhode specializes in Medical First Responder courses (lab and lecture), Basic EMT lab, and special courses/abilities in Wilderness Medicine and Sports injuries.
Steve Rose, Paramedic/IC, BA, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, EMS Coordinator at KCC. Mr. Rose works part-time as a Paramedic at Lifecare Ambulance. He holds a Paramedic Certificate from Lansing Community College and has over 23 years experience in EMS. Mr. Rose holds Instructor certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and PHTLS Instructor. He serves as a board member for the Michigan Crisis Response Association and Calhoun County Critical Incident Stress Management Team. He is an active member of the Society of Michigan EMS Instructor-Coordinators and is a member of the Bedford Fire Department. Mr. Rose is the EMS Clinical Coordinator for KCC and teaches primarily in Continuing Education and Paramedic labs.
Lisa Rose, Paramedic/IC, B. Sc., CCEMT-P, EMS Faculty. Ms. Rose is a professional educator and paramedic with over 15 years experience in EMS. She holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Biology from Central Michigan University and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Education. Ms. Rose is an active member of the National Association of EMT Instructor-Coordinators, the National Association of EMT-Paramedics, and the National Association of EMS Educators. She serves as a board member for the American Heart Association and is a state evaluator for the EMT Basic and Paramedic practical skills tests. Ms. Rose holds certifications as an ACLS and BCLS Instructor, as well as an advanced BTLS and PALS provider. She teaches all levels of the EMS program and coordinates the University of Maryland-Baltimore Critical Care Critical Care Transport program.
Terry Smith, B.A., Materials Handling Manager. Ms. Smith is in charge of equipment and supplies in the EMS lab. She has been with the college for seventeen years and splits her time between EMS and the Science Department.
