KCC PTA Program Receives Full Accreditation Through 2017
The Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) has granted the Kellogg Community College PTA Program an
accredited status through the year 2017. The faculty would like to thank all of those who took part in
past site visits and who helped to
make the process so smooth. Thanks go out also
to all of the clinical sites who accept students within
their facilities for the clinical education portion of this
program.
KCC PTA Job Fair
In early December, the Kellogg Community College PTA Program hosted our annual PTA Job Fair. We hope to continue this as an
annual affair in late fall of each year. Students are not available for a career fair once they go into their full-time clinical
rotations in January, so the late fall timing appears to work much better for this event.
This year we had a number of tables represented by regional physical therapy facilities and one additional table with information available for students as they came through and talked with the various employers who were able to come. If your facility is interested in attending in the fall, please contact Julie Roberts, PTA Program Coordinator at 269.965.3931 x 2270. We would like to thank KCC's Patrick Casey who organizes this event each year.
Annual
Clinical Panel
Each year during the summer semester,
clinicians from a variety of settings come to speak to the
students regarding types of clinical settings within the
field. Representatives discuss physical therapy
settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, women's
health clinics, aquatics, rehabilitation centers, extended
care facilities, sports medicine, home health agencies, and
other areas. Students have the opportunity to ask
questions and learn the difference between the various types
of settings. This year we had seven clinicians take part in the event. The PTA Program would like to thank the following clinicians as well as their employers/facilities for taking part in this very eye-opening activity: Barry Buchanan, PTA, from Physiotherapy Associates; Aaron Robbins, PTA, from Southwest Regional Rehabilitation Center; Candy Habenicht, PTA, from VNS/Lifespan Home Health; Dee Waggoner, PTA, from Heartland Health Center; Lisa Middleton, PTA, from Oaklawn Sports and Rehabilitation Center; Ken Smith, PT, from Oaklawn Hospital, and Carla Pejakovich, PT, from Physiotherapy Associates.
