KCC Men’s Basketball History

KCC’s men’s basketball team vaulted to the top of the region with a regional runner-up and conference championship in 2006-07 and a regional championship in 1996 that led to an eighth place finish at the national tournament.

Gary Sprague, a former Gull Lake varsity basketball coach, will lead the Kellogg Community College’s men’s Bruins basketball team starting with the 2018-19 season. For 21 years, Sprague, a graduate of Western Michigan University, was the varsity coach at Gull Lake High School in Richland, where he also was a teacher for 35 years.

Scholarships

Athletic scholarships are available under NJCAA rules, and we at KCC follow these regulations to the letter. For more information on availability of athletic scholarships, please contact the appropriate head coach or call the Athletic Department at 269-965-4151.

Affiliations

KCC is part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s (MCCAA) Western Conference and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region 12.

Note: Playing men’s basketball at KCC is at the discretion of Head Coach Ben Reed. All decisions as to who plays men’s basketball at KCC for the following academic year are made before Sept. 1.
