Coach

Dic Doumanian returned to KCC as the head coach of the women’s basketball team in 2017 after previously coaching women’s basketball at KCC for seven seasons. From 2000-01 to 2006-07, Doumanian led the Bruins to a 120-82 overall record, winning the MCCAA league title twice and leading the Bruins to the NJCAA National Championship tournament. The Bruins’ sixth-place finish in the nation during the 2004-05 season under Doumanian’s leadership is still the most successful women’s basketball campaign in KCC history. Doumanian also received MCCAA Coach of the Year honors twice while at KCC.

Doumanian earned an undergraduate degree in journalism from Michigan State University in 1982 and a master’s degree in elementary education from Clarion University in 1990. Following his previous stint coaching at KCC he coached women’s basketball at Defiance College in Ohio for four years, leading his team two appearances in the conference tournament.

Scholarships

Athletic scholarships are available under NJCAA rules, and we at KCC follow these regulations to the letter. For more information on availability of athletic scholarships, please contact the appropriate head coach or call the Athletic Department at 269-965-4151.

Affiliations

KCC is part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s (MCCAA) Western Conference and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region 12.

Note: Playing women’s basketball at KCC is at the discretion of the head coach. All decisions made as to who plays women’s basketball at KCC for the following academic year are made before Sept. 1. Individuals interested in playing women’s basketball at KCC should contact the coach before that date at 269-965-4151.
