Corrections
Corrections offers many exciting career opportunities at the state, local, and federal level. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports that correctional officer jobs are expected to grow 16% from 2006 – 2016. The median salary for a correctional officer is $35,760 and the highest paid 10% of correctional officers earn over $58,000 annually. Employment Testing

As of March 1, 2013, the Michigan Sheriffs' Association (MSA) and the Michigan Sheriffs' Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC) requre all Local Corrections Officers in Michigan to pass both a Reading/Writing test and a Physical Fitness Test.

Reading/Writing Test

The MSA and the MSCTC have partnered with Empco to develop a system to assist candidates for entry level positions as Local Corrections Officers and Deputy Sheriffs.

Physical Fitness Test

The Physical Fitness is held in the Miller Gym, Room 210 on the Battle Creek Campus
(located at the corner of North Avenue and Roosevelt across the street from Burger King)
Please wear appropriate clothing and athletic shoes.
