The child care certificate program provides child-focused courses on topics such as child growth and development, positive child guidance, and curriculum planning. The program of study is approximately 35 credit hours and provides an introduction to child care administration and hands-on employability skills. Most of the courses meet the State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Regulations for Director Qualifications and the CDA training guidelines.

The two-year Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education prepares students to work in positions such as a Lead Preschool Teacher, Licensed Home Day Care Provider, Assistant Teacher, Child Caregiver, Infant/Toddler Teacher and Center/Program Director. Graduates will find work opportunities in programs like Head Start, State Preschool Readiness programs, child care centers, and preschools.
The planned two-year program is approximately 62 credit hours. Previous students may be able to transfer earned college credit into the program. Courses may include:

- Child Psychology
- Culturally Sensitive Practice
- Working with Children with Special Needs
- Child Care Administration
- Anti-Bias Curriculum
- Creative Arts and Movement for Young Children.

Miller College Elementary Program, Spring Arbor College, and Western Michigan University.
After completing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, students may be eligible to enter on of these advanced programs as a junior.

You may be able to earn credit toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education if you have completed the two-year Professional Child Care Program at the Calhoun Area Technology Center (CATC) or the Early Childhood Program at the Branch Area Career Center (BACC).
