What is a portal?

A portal is a site that provides a gateway to a suite of commonly used web services; the KCC web portal provides access to authenticated web resources such as KRIS, email, and Blackboard.

Do I have to go through the portal to check my GroupWise email (for Faculty & Staff)?

If you are using the client (desktop icon) for GroupWise, your email access does not change. If you are using GroupWise web email, then you do need to access web email by going through the portal.

Do I have to go through the portal to check my Netmail email (for Students)?
|

Yes, you need to login to the portal. Your email will open up within the portal window.
|
|
What Internet browsers are recommended for use with the Portal?
|
|
Newer versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Netscape have been tested for use with the portal. The AOL browser is not compatible with the portal.

What browser settings do I need to set to use the portal?

- Check that Cookies are enabled (usually set under Internet Options and/or Security options)
- Allow Pop-Ups (if you have a Pop-Up blocker, choose accept all Pop-Ups from this site)

Will I still need to log in to Blackboard with my Blackboard username and password?

Yes, you do! Blackboard does not use your Universal Username and Password.

Will I still need to log in to Colleague with my Colleague username and password (for Faculty & Staff)?

Yes, you do! Colleague does not use your Universal Username and Password.

I just changed my Universal Password, can I use it right away?
|
|
Once your password change is confirmed, you must wait 5 minutes before trying to log back into KRIS or into a workstation on campus.
This will allow the new password to be updated with the other applications. When 5 minutes has elapsed, you can use your new Universal
Password for the Portal and workstations across campus.
