Leave

Kellogg Community College Administrative, Faculty, Support and Maintenance employees earn a combination of leaves to support their need to be away from work for illness, caring for personal business and to just relax!  Below are the processes to follow for each group.

Also refer to each groups’ contract and/or the Kellogg Community College Policy Manual for accrual and other leave conditions that may apply.

Leave Request

Faculty
  1. Faculty must list time in days (smallest increment is 1/4 day).
  2. Complete a leave request indicating the appropriate leave type, date, time of leave (if a partial day), and total amount taken.
  3. Sign and date the leave request and submit to supervisor for approval.
  4. After supervisor approval, the leave request must be submitted to the Vice President, Instruction for approval.
  5. After Vice President, Instruction approval, the leave request must be submitted to Human Resouces to be entered into Colleague.
  6. If leave is covered under the Family Medical Leave Act, please indicate so on the leave request.
Administration
  1. Complete a leave request indicating the appropriate leave type, date, time of leave (if a partial day), and total number of hours.
  2. Leave cannot be taken in increments of less than one hour without first taking a minimum of one hour within the same leave bank.
  3. Sign and date the leave and submit to supervisor for approval.
  4. After supervisor approval, the leave request will be submitted to Human Resouces to be entered into Colleague.
  5. If leave is covered under the Family Medical Leave Act, please indicate this on the leave request.
 Support Staff and Maintenance
  1. Complete a leave request indicating the appropriate leave type, date, time of leave (if a partial day), and total number of hours.
  2. Leave cannot be taken in increments of less than one hour without first taking a minimum of one hour within the same leave bank.
  3. Sign and date the leave request and submit to supervisor for approval.
  4. After supervisor approval, the leave request will be kept by the supervisor to compare to your timecard.
  5. You will enter your leaves yourself as you complete your Webtime Entry electronic timecard.
  6. If the leave is for anything other than vacation, sick, or floating holiday (FMLA, worker’s comp, funeral, leave without pay), the leave request form with the appropriate signatures and approvals must be submitted to Human Resouces to be entered into Colleague.
  7. If the leave is covered under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), please indicate so on the leave request.

 

Family and Medical Leave Policy

Kellogg Community College fully supports the federal Family and Medical Leave Act program.  We work closely with employees requiring extended leaves to care for themselves or family members.  Anytime you believe you will be absent 5 or more days in a 12 week period, please contact Human Resources at human_resources@kellogg .edu or 269-965-4152 as soon as possible.  We want to be sure our employees get the full extent of the benefit provided to them.
