A few years back, the KCC Foundation launched the Donor Portrait initiative for endowed funds. Many individuals and families honor loved ones by creating funds that will continue to pay tribute to their lives beyond their passing. Once the minimum gift level of $10,000 has been met, the KCC Foundation commissions a professional portrait of the individual being honored.

• John Harvey Kellogg Memorial Scholarship
• Donald J. Taft Memorial Scholarship
• Watson H. Vanderploeg Memorial Scholarship
• Kay White Memorial Scholarship

The portraits become part of the permanent art collection at KCC and are displayed in the hallways of the newly renovated buildings on campus. In addition, a biography is written, highlighting the individual for which the endowment is named, and produced in the form of a brochure. The brochure is then given to scholarship recipients receiving that particular fund.

The portrait initiative not only honors the lives of individuals who believed in the value of education, but also heightens the awareness of our endowment program with KCC students and the community at large.
