The following is information regarding our coverage for health, prescription, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance. This coverage is available to all regular, full-time and regular, part-time employees and their spouses and/or dependents. Regular, part-time employees pay for part of their premium.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM)
Coverage for Employee, Spouse and Dependents
The Flexible Blue, PPO plan is subject to a $1,250 or $2,000 per single party and $2,500 or $4,000 per two-party or full family per calendar year deductible. Preventative Care Services are limited to a maximum of $500 per member per year.
In-Network or participating providers contract with BCBSM to provide care or services to members under specific reimbursement terms.
Out-of-Network providers have not signed a contract with BCBSM to be part of a provider network. Services may not be covered or may be covered at a reduced rate if you go to an out-of-network provider.

Health Savings Account
KCC offers a health savings account (HSA) through Wells Fargo. The HSA helps pay the cost of the high deductible health plan, allows tax-deductible deposits and tax-deferred growth, and tax-free disbursements can be made for medical care. KCC currently contributes to your health savings account. You may contribute all or a portion of the remaining benefit. The College's contribution to an employee's HSA that is part time or hired after January 1 is pro-rated.

Dental
Coverage for Employee, Spouse and Dependents
Following is information regarding our dental coverage. Dental insurance is available to all regular, full-time and regular, part-time employees and their spouses and/or dependents. Regular, part-time employees pay for part of their premium.
The plan year for services is January 1 - December 31
- There is a maximum of $1,000 per person per year for dental services, excluding orthodontics
- Diagnostic and Basic Services are paid at 80% of reasonable and customary
- Bridges and Dentures are paid at 50% of reasonable and customary
- Orthodontics are paid at 50% with a $1,200 lifetime maximum per person up to age 19 years

Long-term Disability

Long Term Disability (LTD) provides benefits at 60% of the employee's gross wages in the event of total disability for up to two years. Benefits begin after a 90-calendar day waiting period. Regular, part-time employees pay for part of their premium.

Life Insurance

You will be eligible for insurance on the start date of your employment if you enroll for insurance during an open enrollment period or during the first 30 days of employment. You must be actively at work on the day that your insurance is to become effective. Regular, part-time employees pay for part of their premium.

Cash In Lieu of Health and Prescription
Coverage for Full-time Employee
If a full-time employee elects not to be covered by KCC's health and prescription insurance, they may elect a cash payment in lieu of health insurance. The waiver compensation is equal to the College's BCBSM annual single subscriber premium. One-half of the waiver compensation is paid in February and the second half is paid in August (new hires may have an adjusted schedule). If the full-time employee is hired after January 1, this payment will be prorated.
