A: Some local organizations currently utilize Oracle, and others have in the past. Prospects change with the "ebb and flow" of the economy. The best prospects are probably in the larger metropolitan areas such as Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Chicago.
Q: How much do DBAs make?
A: Depending upon one's level of experience, education, and location, typical jobs available after completing your degree include: Computer Programmer Trainee (35-60K), Senior Programmer (40-80K), Systems Analyst (45-90K), Database Administrator (50-120K). Note: There is no guarantee that you will be employed, even if you pass all your certification exams, nor is there any guarantee concerning salaries .
Q: I've only had a basic computer course such as CIS 100 or CIS 160. Is that enough preparation?
A: No. You should have at least two hours of Access database, three hours of programming design, and three hours of a programming language before starting this curriculum which will be both vigorous and accelerated (Two years of industry experience as a programmer/analyst plus some database theory knowledge would be sufficient).
