Emerging Technologies from the 2010 Showcase
- WizIQ – WizIQ is a free virtual classroom environment, especially useful for online instructors. The collaborative web conferencing tool includes a whiteboard, audio and video communication, and chat. Sessions can be recorded and put on the web for students to access.
- Teaching with YouTube and Twitter – Twitter allows small
bits of information, such as homework reminders and links, to be pushed to
students via their mobile device or computer. YouTube can be used to
post instructional video. Taken together reminders can be sent out to
students that include instructional video that helps students with their
homework.

- Bubbl – Bubbl is an easy and free tool that can be used for flow carts, mindmapping/idea mapping and brainstorming.
- Prezi – Prezi is a free presentation tool that allows you to present your content in a non-linear fashion. Prezi's interface is intuitive; you place all of your slide elements on a single, open canvas, and then specify the path between elements. Your Prezi presentation will then glide along the path, as well as allowing you to zoom in and out on a given area of the presentation. Slide elements can include text, audio, video and images.
- SoftChalk – SoftChalk is an easy to use
learning activities/content creation software that generates interactive web
pages for uploading to Blackboard or the or your web site. Lesson features
can include pop-up text annotations, self-assessment quizzes, and
interactive learning games.

- Starboard – The Hitachi Starboard is an interactive
display that integrates into the presenter workstation in several classrooms
around campus. Using a pen and "digital ink", faculty can
annotate on Word, Excel and PowerPoint materials.
