Printing Factoids…..Did you know?
  • With the use of e-mail, the number of pages consumed in the
U.S. is growing and in 2004, 102.7 million tons of paper and
paperboard were consumed in the U.S. alone.  The pulp and
paper industry ranks first in use of industrial process water,
third in toxic chemical releases and fourth in emissions of the
air pollutants known to impair respiratory health (www.greenseal.org).

  • Combined paper usage at K.C.C. totals 5,000,000 sheets of
plain white paper annually.  That is 25 tons of paper, and
stacked would be taller than the Twin Towers.  It is estimated
that production of this paper killed 425 trees, and was
responsible for 1500 lbs of air pollution!!

  • Lack of understanding of good print practices is the primary
reason for excessive printing.  What can you do to reduce printing?

Energy Management Factoids....Did you know?

  • Significant savings in energy can be obtained by simply turning
off your computer at the end of the day (leave your monitor on
as it will go into power save/sleep mode when you shut down
     your computer).

  • Network printers should be left on as they will also put
themselves into sleep mode to conserve energy.
