Moodle – General Information
Moodle is a web-based course management system that allows faculty to post course material on the web, provide prompt feedback to students, as well as facilitate interaction with and between students. KCC faculty utilize Moodle to either to enhance their traditional classroom-based instruction or deliver a course completely online.
The Learning Technologies group offers
support for Moodle, including training workshops, to encourage faculty to
take advantage of this online learning environment.
The web address for KCC’s Moodle site is http://moodle.kellogg.edu.

What is Moodle?
Moodle is located on a web server that is supported by the Information Services
(I.S.)
Department. Moodle
courses are password protected and only students enrolled in the courses
have full access to all course material and built-in tools. All
users (faculty, staff and students) must have username/password accounts in
order to access Moodle courses.
Course shells in Moodle provide space for faculty to upload course-specific content as well as utilize built-in communication, collaboration and assessment tools. Faculty and students need to have computers with Internet connection and a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer) to access the Moodle courses.
Additionally, text book publishers support the use of Moodle by providing Course Cartridges. The cartridges contain text book content and can be automatically uploaded into a Moodle course. Visit the publisher's website to request a Moodle Course Cartridge.

Requesting a Moodle course shell
Faculty who are interested in developing web-based courses can request a
Moodle course shell. These courses can be created in different
manners: a new empty course shell or a course created by copying
from an already existing Blackboard or Moodle course.

Faculty responsibilities when using Moodle
