There are a number of resources available at Kellogg Community College to assist students in their academic success. Please stop by The Learning Place if you'd like to discuss which options would be best for your situation. Some suggestions are:
- Make an appointment to meet with your instructor or drop in during office open hours. Your instructor is the person who is best qualified to tell you how to be successful in your course.
- Work with one of the paraprofessionals in The Learning Place. During open hours, there is always a parapro on duty. For a listing of specific times and topic areas, click on The Learning Place home page and then on one of the topics we specialize in (Math and Science Skills, or Reading, Writing, and Study Skills), which are listed on the left side of the page.
For many courses, the help you need may be general study skills, such as test taking, test prep, or test anxiety. The Learning Place can help with these and a number of other areas, such as notetaking, reading skills, grammar, spelling, punctuation, time management, writing skills, and research paper citations.
- If you need specific help in an area that is not available in The Learning Place, request a peer tutor through Tutoring.
- There are many good resources available on the internet. We've reviewed and collected some that we think are helpful. For general study skills, click on Web Resources for General Study Skills, and for discipline specific help, click on Web Resources for Specific Topics.
