The library offers faculty a variety of services to assist in meeting the information needs of students as outlined below. Contact your Department Liaison if you have questions or need additional information.

MeLCat Catalog
MeLCat Logo We are a member of MeLCat, an ever growing materials catalog of library holdings around the State of Michigan. You can order books and media right from our catalog or from the MeLCat catalog directly. Items are delivered for pickup at our Check-Out desk and loan for a three week period.

Use this request form when items are not available through our local catalog or MeLCat.

Library orientation/bibliographic instruction request
You may request a librarian to come to your classroom for library instruction. Session can be general (searching the databases, using the Library Catalog) or specific to a classroom assignment (evaluating websites). Contact your Liaison for additional information.

Suggest a purchase
Use the library catalog to request new books & materials. Login using your kID and password to access the form.

Curriculum Review Form
This form is used to evaluate library materials before a new course is added to the college taxonomy.

Reserve Materials Request Form
This form accompanies materials that you would like placed on reserve in the library for your students.
Instructional Technology Websites for Faculty:
These sites, selected by KCC's Emerging Technology Committee, provide access to academic content through video clips, tutorials, assignments as well as helps for integrating this materials into course lectures and activities. For assistance using these resources, email Ted Wycoff.

Ted.com-each year at the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Conference the world's most inspiring thinkers are challenged to share their ideas in 18 minutes. Ted.com gives free access to these speeches covering a range of topics from science to literature. An impressive list of speaders includes Al Gore and Jane Goodall.

YouTube.edu- interested in using YouTube clips in class, but need to filter through and find the academic content? This site has done it for you, providing a collection of YouTube clips specific to higher education developed by partnering colleges and universitites. Search by topic, discipline or institution. You'll find instructions on how to embed a YouTubeVideo into a PowerPoint presentation here. For assistance, contact Stephanie Davis.

Merlot.org-this online learning community provides faculty with access to new ideas for intergrating technology into courses along with instructions for making it happen. Divided by discipline, each Merlot discipline (19 total) area includes learning materials, assignments, guest experts and more.

iCue.com-contains news clips from the NBC News Archive available for download and classroom use. Along with the clips are ideas for using them in course to enhance curriculum. Great source for Current Event information as well as political and cultural information. Not as academically oriented as YouTube or Merlot.

ChoiceReviews.online
ChoiceReviews.online provides Web access to the entire database of CHOICE reviews. The database is updated monthly, and the reviews are arranged by academic discipline and broad cross-disciplinary topic, and are searchable. This is only available for on campus use.
