Mission Statement & Objectives
The Mission Statement for the Learning Resource Center clearly states that our overall goal is ...to collect, organize, and make available the learning resources/information necessary for both the faculty and the students of Kellogg Community College. We do this most effectively when we a.) work in joint enterprise with the teaching faculty; b.) help students become more knowledgeable and confident users of information sources and services; c.) collaborate with external sources to enhance services.
Objective 1:
To maintain an awareness of developments in instructional design and emerging instructional technologies and the evaluation of these to provide information to the faculty and instructional support concerning such developments.
Objective 2:
To provide guidance in the development of instructional programs, both as support and as mainstream activities to help achieve the educational program goals of the College.
Objective 3:
To ensure the acquisition, availability, and use of a well-planned collection of learning resource materials and supportive equipment and to stimulate innovation and learning by providing the facilities that meet the instructional needs of the educational programs.
Objective 4:
To provide a staff qualified, concerned and involved in serving the needs of students.>
Objective 5:
To provide information literacy sessions for students that will familiarize them with the diversity of our collections and with the information sources they will need for study and research.
Objective 6:
To engage in appropriate inter-agency activities for the purpose of cooperative sharing of resources and other services of mutual benefit to participants.
