Communication & Marketing Series
Lunch & Learn: Broken Windows—Gaining Insight into Effective Nonprofit Marketing Strategies — NEW NPAT CM22B-02
In 1982, two social scientists developed the Broken Windows criminology theory. It looks at how people's perceptions affect their behavior and their willingness to follow the law. In 2006, marketing and PR guru, Michael Levine, applied this same theory to marketing in his book "Broken Windows, Broken Business." This workshop will take participants through the basics of the theory, the five types of Broken Windows that are relevant to most organizations, and offer suggestions on how to identify and solve broken windows. Participants will have the opportunity to break into groups, assess broken windows at their own institutions, and work with other professionals to come up with ways to solve them. Whether you are new to marketing or a seasoned pro, this session will help you reassess the things outside of your marketing department that may be causing your marketing to be ineffective. It will also provide you with examples of new ways to explain concepts such as branding to those in your institution that struggle to understand marketing. Feel free to bring your lunch while enjoying this presentation.
