1. What are the program options at KCC?
Both full-time and part-time RN programs are available at KCC. Additionally, LPN's can advance place out of one year of the RN program with two semesters (full-time program) or four semesters (part-time program) of coursework following a transition course. Both full-time and part-time practical nursing program options are available. The full-time program can be completed in two semesters following admission. The part-time program can be completed in five consecutive semesters following admission.

2. What is the difference between the RN and the PN programs?
Other than length, RN's have greater responsibility for decision making in the care of patients. LPN's work under the supervision of a RN and very often work in long-term care facilities.

3. How many classes will I have each week?
Full time RN students usually have class or clinical experiences four days each week, which may be scheduled on days or evenings. Part-time RN students have one class day and one clinical day, which may be scheduled on days or evenings each week. Practical nursing students who attend school full-time have class and clinical experiences four to five days per week, which may be scheduled on days or evenings. Part-time students will usually attend class and clinical experiences two days or evenings per week.

4. Will I find a job after graduation?
Nursing is experiencing a severe nursing shortage in all types of facilities, including acute care, home care, and long term care. Thus, nursing positions at this time are very available in this area as well as nationwide.

  • Current knowledge of health care changes in the area and nationwide.
