Instrumentation & Process Control

Most of the RMTC students seeking skills in Instrumentation and Process Control already have a broad array of skills in the electrical area. The ability to calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instruments of all types adds value to the skills an electrician can bring to their employer. This, in turn, can add to both the income and the job security for the electrician.

Income levels for electricians with the additional skills gained in the instrumentation area will generally add between $2,000 - $8,000 a year to the basic wage levels enjoyed by other electricians (see Electricity/ Electronics main page). Just as important is the increase in job opportunities and job security brought about by the capability to understand and maintain instruments in factories, power plants, and laboratories.
