Machine Tool/Tool & Die

At the RMTC students work with state-of-the-art machining techniques. Here a student learns how to program a Haas CNC machine.

Just a few of the many rewarding careers included under the "Machine Tool" umbrella are:

  • Tool & Die (or Mold) Maker
  • Tool & Die (or Mold) Repair Person
  • Machinist
  • CNC Programmer
  • CNC Operator

People in most of these professions can be assured of excellent job security in our high tech, global economy. Since graduates in the machine tool trades are in high demand, the incomes can range from $18,000 - $60,000* per year--with CNC Operators generally being at the lower end of that scale and Tool & Die Makers at the top end. Since most of these skilled trades require people to create tooling or finished product using advanced technology and their own creativity, these professions can be personally rewarding as well as economically so.

All of these machine tool professions can combine the traditional as well as the computerized approaches to product design and product construction. That is why the RMTC will teach you both. This means that our Machine Tool and Tool & Die graduates can enjoy a wide variety of job opportunities since they have a well-rounded preparation for their trades. For those graduates who are already employed, this can mean the ability to successfully bid on more jobs at their companies. And those who are still seeking employment when they graduate should not have to wait long for a selection of companies to work for and locations in which to live.
