Getting Started

Before you launch into your new job responsibilities, here are some details you’ll want to tend to as soon as possible.

Establishing Identity
Some of us already know who you are, but others will need you to have:
An ID card - You can get one at the Customer Service Center.
A parking sticker - You can sign for one of these in the Institutional Facilities Office on the lower level of the Lane-Thomas Building, Rm. 121..
Keys to your work area - You’ll need an authorization from your Supervisor, then you can sign for your keys in the Institutional Facilities Office, again, LT-121.
A library card - Once you have your ID card, you can get a bar-coded library card at the Circulation Desk in the Learning Resource Center.

Essential Technology
Some things you just can’t do without!
Phone service, email accounts and network connections can all be arranged with the Information Services Office in Building A.
Computer set-up assistance can be arranged through the Information Services Help Desk, ext. 4148.
Computer use assistance is available in the Professional Development Area, Learning Resources Center, or online at the Learning Technologies site.
An Employee Computer Purchase Program is available, if you’re interested. Contact the Business Manager in the Mawby Center for further information.

Employee Benefits
While you’re always welcome to talk with staff in Human Resources at the Whitmore Administration Building about individual questions, you’ll be able to find general information about contracts, payroll schedules, benefits, and retirement program options, by linking to them online.

Employee HelpNet
If all the new changes or future unexpected events tax your personal resources, this is a good place to find out who can help. They'll connect you with resources to help with just about anything, and it's confidential. No one here needs to know. KCC hopes employees will use the service when they need it. The number at HelpNet is 269-969-6162.

The nice part about KCC is they always look towards the future, and they're very open-minded to new ideas." Mike Nunn
