Help for Students
There are lots of excellent services for students here. Whatever your role at KCC, you'll be in a position to respond to students' needs for information and assistance, and can direct them to one of the following sources of help. For more details, use the links from this page, or consult the Student Handbook.
Customer Service Center
This is where students can take care of their business with the College — admissions application; registration, drop and add, withdrawal; payment of tuition, fees, and fines; transcript and course history requests; assistance with KRIS; and, application for graduation along with diploma and commencement orders. The Customer Service Center is located in the Walkway at the entrance to the Ohm Building. These same services are available at the academic centers.

Testing Center
ASSET and Compass, the standard placement tests used at KCC, are given here, along with make-up and telecourse testing, proctored testing for customized training and online courses, CLEP and a variety of other specialized examinations. You'll find the Center on the top floor of the Lane-Thomas Building.

Academic Advising
In Academic Advising, students receive support and training regarding degree and certificate attainment. Advisors prepare students for transfer by maintaining transfer resources including transfer guides, course equivalencies and transfer scholarship information. College Life
This is the hub of student activities, including student government, clubs and organizations, co-curricular programs, publications, club sports and honors programs. The staff is especially friendly, so it's a good place to send a student looking for leadership opportunities or just a little more involvement. You'll find this office on the upper level of the Student Center, near the Bookstore. Since this is the location of Lost and Found, you might also find what you're missing!

Student Employment Services
The SES office is located inside the Student Center as part of the Student Services Division (across from Academic Advising). Job postings, including on and off campus employment are available via the SES's online job board at College Central Network (CCN): www.collegecentral.com/kellogg. SES offers comprehensive employment services including resume / cover letter writing, interview training, and job development, as well as a resource room for student usage. SES staff is also available for classroom presentations covering all employment/job search related topics..

Learning Resource Center
Answers for everything can be found here! Resources include books, magazines, newspapers, electronic databases, interlibrary loans, reference services and the very helpful staff. This is also the site of a computer commons and collaborative study rooms. For leisure reading and listening, students can find lots of paperback books and CD's. The LRC is a wonderfully inviting environment to do any of the above! You might remind students that when they are not on campus, they can access various online resources by clicking on the LRC link from the College web site.

Student Services
is the term used for all the services that support students while they are actively engaged as a students at Kellogg Community College. Services include: admissions, financial aid, academic advising, college life, customer service, records, support services, athletics, upward bound, legacy scholars and student employment and placement.

Open Computer Labs
KCC supports open computer labs with comparable hardware and software in all College locations: the Battle Creek campus (in the LRC), the Grahl Center, the Fehsenfeld Center, the RMTC and the Eastern Academic Center. On-site parapros will offer assistance with routine operation of the equipment and standard software. Hours may vary, depending on the location and time of year, so alert students to check on specific site information.

The Learning Place
Recent research has reinforced the importance of students' getting off to a good start in order to persist and be successful. Please encourage students to take advantage of the special help available in reading, study skills, mathematics, and writing. In addition, individual tutoring is available in science and many other areas. Students can access all of these services through The Learning Place on the Upper Level of the Ohm Information Technology Center, room 207.

Support Services
Support Services works with at-risk students to increase retention rates, facilitate academic successes and enhance graduation rates. This is accomplished by providing services under the Special Populations and Student Support Services grants, as well as providing Tutoring, Disability Services, and Child Care Grant. Contact their office for details about what they can offer students, as well as tips on how to approach students who may need help.

Policies and Procedures
Information about policies and procedures regarding things like parking, confidentiality of records, disabilities, student rights and responsibilities, due process, grade and other complaints, smoking and chemical dependency, security, college closing, and injury are all spelled out in the Student Handbook. If students have questions about any of them, suggest they check the Student Handbook and/or refer them to the Counseling Center Information Desk (in the Student Center) for a more specific referral.

More Information
The Student Handbook provides details on all of the above topics and many more, such as housing and intramural and recreational sports. It's pretty handy to have on hand! You and students can get copies in the Counseling Center or the Admissions Office.
