Adult learners make up 50% or more of our student body, with more than 17% of our returning and new students in need of developmental coursework
– the transition to college can be intimidating for the adult student. Coupled with the outside responsibilities of adult students – jobs and
family – and limited financial resources, our adult learners face barriers that many traditional-aged students do not.
AEEI provides a combination of developmental hands-on instruction, personal and career management, tutoring, academic advising, individual need assessment, individual educational planning, and social/cultural activities that assist students in determining strengths, increasing skills – both technical and soft – and using a variety of delivery methods.
Kellogg Community College and their partners are committed to increasing the number of people who demonstrate basic and employability skills which is crucial to economic growth in Michigan.
The AEEI program begins with an 8-week program to transition adult students into college and/or the workforce by building skills in many areas. AEEI creates a work-like atmosphere where people receive the support and encouragement necessary to move forward with their college and/or work-force goals.
No individual is turned away. Using strengths they will be referred to the agency at which he/she should begin his/her skill building.
