Transfer Scholarships for Graduating KCC Students

Transfer Scholarship applications for students graduating in the 2021-2022 academic year will open in December and will be due April 1, 2022. The KCC Foundation offers the following three scholarship opportunities for KCC students graduating from Kellogg Community College with an Associates Degree and transferring to a four-year institution:

The KCC Foundation also offers the following scholarship opportunity for students graduating from the Dental Hygiene program.

Harper Transfer Scholarship

The Walter and Lucille Harper Transfer Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement, and is awarded to graduating Kellogg Community College students transferring to a publicly-funded baccalaureate degree granting institution of higher learning to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree. 

Applicant must

  • Be graduating from KCC with an Associates Degree in the year of application submission
  • Earn the majority of their credits from KCC
  • Be transferring to a publicly-funded baccalaureate degree-granting institution as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
  • Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which they will transfer
  • Show evidence of financial need

Hensley Transfer Scholarship

The Virginia M. Hensley Education or Health Care Two-Year Transfer Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement, and is awarded to a graduating Kellogg Community College student transferring to one of Michigan’s Public Colleges or Universities, seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of Education or Health Care. Applicants must have graduated high school within the last three years.

The recipient(s) of the Hensley Transfer Scholarship will receive an award equal to the lesser of the annual tuition and fees of the year of the award in question at Western Michigan University or the actual annual tuition and fees for the year of the award in question at the university the recipient elects to attend. This award will be given for two years, provided the student maintains eligibility. 

Applicant must

  • Be graduating from KCC with an Associates Degree in the year of application submission
  • Earn the majority of their credits from KCC
  • Be transferring to one of the following publicly-funded baccalaureate degree-granting institution as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor’s Degree
    • Central Michigan University
    • Eastern Michigan University
    • Ferris State University
    • Grand Valley State University
    • Lake Superior State University
    • Michigan State University
    • Michigan Technological University
    • Northern Michigan University
    • Oakland University
    • Saginaw Valley State University
    • University of Michigan
    • Wayne State University
    • Western Michigan University
  • Be majoring in an Education or Health Care field
  • Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 of higher
  • Have graduated high school within the last three years
  • Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
  • Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which they will transfer

Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate(s) must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during the time of the scholarship
  • Remain a full-time student during the duration of the scholarship

Hites Transfer Scholarship

The Robert F. Hites Family Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement, and is awarded to graduating Kellogg Community College students transferring to a baccalaureate degree granting institution of higher learning seeking a Bachelor’s Degree. 

The recipients of the Hites Transfer Scholarship will receive $3,000 for each of two years, for a total of $6,000, provided they maintain eligibility.

Applicant must

  • Be graduating from KCC with an Associates Degree in the year of application submission
  • Earn the majority of their credits from KCC
  • Be transferring to a baccalaureate degree-granting institution as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
  • Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which they will transfer

Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate(s) must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during the time of the scholarship
  • Remain a full-time student during the duration of the scholarship

Danette Wilkins Memorial Scholarship

The Danette Wilkins Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Dental Hygiene student to help offset the cost of their Dental Hygiene Board Exam. 

Applicant must:

  • Be a graduating student in the Dental Hygiene program in the year of submission
  • Demonstrate financial need

Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate must successfully pass their Dental Hygiene Board Exam in order to receive the scholarship.

  • Visit Academic Works to apply.
  • Once completed with your application, click submit at the bottom and make sure your application was completed. This will submit your application to all the scholarship opportunities that you are eligible for.
  • Click the Opportunities tab at the top and see if there are any additional recommended scholarships. If you are applying for a transfer scholarship, you will need to fill out additional questions to complete that application.
