Special Service Events

Below are a couple opportunities available for Kellogg Community College students. For more information, contact Integrative Learning Director, Kate Coplin at coplink@kellogg.edu or at 269-965-3931, ext. 2211.

Bruins Give Back

Bruins Give Back (BGB) takes place three times each semester and is available for all members of the KCC community to participate. The Bruins Give Back events occur at locations around Battle Creek. More details about Bruins Give Back will be announced as we get closer to each BGB. Registration opens 2 weeks before each date. During the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters we are not holding Bruins Give Back events but encourage our students and staff to serve. There are also many amazing “virtual” opportunities available.

Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fair

A participant at a booth at the Volunteer and Civic Engagement FairThe Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fair takes place in Jan. and Sept. each year. The next Fair will take place in September 2021 in collaboration with Bruin Blast this year!

Each semester KCC puts this fair on for students and community members. The fairs typically take place in September and February.

Are you looking for ways to volunteer this year? Are you in a service-learning course but aren’t sure where to get connected? This event is a great opportunity for KCC students interested in service-learning and community service. At the fair you will have the chance to learn about the work and mission of many organizations and about various needs in the Battle Creek community. At least 20 area organizations will be represented at the event.

If you are a community partner that would like to be part of this event but haven’t received any emails about past Volunteer and Civic Engagement Fairs, please email Kate Coplin at coplink@kellogg.edu and we will make sure to add you to our list.

Leadership Opportunity:

At each site there are student leaders that serve as site leaders. These site leaders are there to connect with the community partner, welcome volunteers, serve alongside volunteers, lead a reflection activity and assist with evaluating the program. Contact Kate Coplin at coplink@kellogg.edu if you are interested in service as a site leader.

Community partners

Please email Kate Coplin at coplink@kellogg.edu if you would like your location to be one of three Bruins Give Back sites on one of the dates listed above during the school year.
