The second pillar of Guided Pathways is about supporting students to enter an appropriate academic pathway.
KCC does this by offering intentional support to help students make the most informed decisions, including assistance with career exploration; help developing academic plans aligned with their interests; and relevant developmental education enabling students to enter and complete maps on a reasonable timeline.
Academic pathway maps on are available on our Career & Transfer Areas of Study page. These maps clearly “map out” the student’s academic journey to a degree, certificate or transfer program. Benefits include:
- Faster completion to workforce entry or further education
- Less expense due to wasted time or money
- A streamlined transfer process with greater opportunity to maximize KCC credits at bachelor’s degree granting institutions
- Students can better plan programming in advance, with more time to seek relevant resources for student success
