This process applies to all instructors (faculty and adjunct faculty) seeking approval for the development and delivery of an online course and payment for development of work leading to the first-time offering of an online course. Important “submission deadlines” are listed at the end of this document.
- The instructor and department chair or director discuss developing an online course.
NOTE: Prior to developing an online/hybrid course, the faculty developer must complete KCC’s Online Teaching and Learning (OTL) course (or equivalent per the Director, Learning Technologies). - The faculty developer requests a course shell (Moodle) on the test server and begins the development process.
- When the development of the course is complete, the faculty member contacts the Director, Learning Technologies with the course identification information.
- The Director, Learning Technologies submits the course to the Online Course Development Committee (OCDC) for review.
- The OCDC committee reviews the course. Compiled review feedback is provided to the faculty developer.
- Upon revision, OCDC brings forth a recommendation for offering to KCC’s Academic Cabinet.
- Academic Cabinet will vote on the OCDC recommendation.
- The Chair of OCDC (Director, Learning Technologies) coordinates processing any faculty compensation.
