Join KCC on a trip to Ireland! The Ireland trip will run May 18-28, but the first trip deposit will be due on November 1, for those who would like to participate.

Join us to learn about the culture of Ireland — the writers, the history, the folklore and fables. The trip will include visits to the Aran Islands, Carrick-a-Rede Bridge, the Cliffs of Moher, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Titanic Belfast, Wild Atlantic Way and many other popular tourist destinations.



Day One: Thur, May 18th

  • Depart Battle Creek for O’Hare
  • Take overnight flight to Shannon

Day Two: Fri, May 19th

  • Arrive at Shannon, meet coach
  • Travel to Ennis for breakfast
  • Visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park
  • Take coach to Cliffs of Moher and Burren
  • Take coach to Galway
  • Overnight in Galway

Day Three: Sat, May 20th

  • Take coach to Doolin for ferry to Aran Islands
  • Board coach for return to Galway
  • Remainder of the day is free in Galway
  • Overnight in Galway

Day Four: Sun, May 21st

  • Board coach for Derry
  • Stop in Sligo to visit Keat’s home town
  • Arrive in Derry, remainder of the day is free

  • Board coach for airport and flight home
  • Meet coach in Chicago for trip back to BC


The cost for this trip will be 2895.00.

This is a great value for a trip as inclusive as this, and one of the best values we have been able to offer in a long time. The last trip did fill and we are expecting high interest in this one as well so sign up early or at least indicate interest in going so we can try and accommodate as many as possible.

What is included in the Cost of the Trip:

  • Coach transportation from Kellogg Community College to O’Hare Airport in Chicago.
  • Roundtrip airfare to/from Chicago to Ireland
  • In-country coach with driver/tour guide.
  •  9 nights lodging
  • Entrance to all tours, sights that are part of the trip.
  • LUAS pass for public transportation in Dublin
  • Ferry Fares to/from Aran Islands
  • Guided tour of Derry

  • Other expenses incurred by student _ i.e. excessive luggage charge, ect.

Registration and Payment Information for Students:

Registering for the Class

  • Registration opens April 10thfor Summer 2017.
  • Students will need to make both deposits to enroll in the class.
    • Deposit Information
      • 1st deposit of $250 is due November 1st (non-refundable)
      • 2nd deposit of $250 is due December 1st (non-refundable)
  • Students will also need to attend one mandatory orientation session set up through the International Studies Office.
  • Once registration is open, we will process a “permission to enter” override in the system.
  • Students will then be able to register for the class on the automated system.
  • Students should be registered no later than May 15th.

Payment Information for Students

  • First deposit, non-refundable, $250.00 (due November 1, 2016)
  • Second deposit, non-refundable, $250.00 (due December 1, 2016)
  • The remaining 2395.00 will be due at registration time, beginning April 10. Registration MUST be completed no later than May 15, 2017. This amount may be financed.

Financing the Remaining Balance

  • Option 1
    • Pay for the entire amount (see cost breakdown) out-of-pocket for the class upon registration.
    • Students will have 24 hours after registering to do that or they will be dropped by the system.
  • Option 2
    • Students can use any eligible Financial Aid for 2016-2017 to offset the cost of the trip.
    • Students have a responsibility to verify eligibility.
    • Students should complete the FAFSA application to determine eligibility.
    • Once Financial Aid has been determined, students will be responsible for any additional costs beyond Financial Aid awards, before we leave for Ireland
  • Option 3
    • Students can set up an installment plan, in which payments can be made monthly to offset cost.
    • Students will provide an account number (checking, savings, trust, credit card) that would be debited every month until the full balance is paid.

Payment Information for Community Members

First deposit, non-refundable, $250.00 (due November 1, 2016)

Second deposit, non-refundable, $250.00 (due December 1, 2016)

Installment payments for the remaining $2395.00:

  • $800.00 (due January 18, 2017)
  • $800.00 (due February 18, 2017)
  • $795.00 (due March 18, 2017)

Payment Details

  • Community members can pay in cash, credit card, or checks.
  • Community members need to contact Michelle Wright, Kevin Barnes, or Elyse Jozlin to verify payment and receive a payment slip,
  • Community members will make payments through the Business Office.

Next Steps

  • Apply for a passport.
  • Apply for Financial Aid (This is Summer Session, so any eligible financial aid would be from the 2016-2017 academic year).
  • Set up a budget for yourself.
  • Pay the first $250 deposit by November 1, 2016 and the second $250 deposit by December 1, 2016.

The trip is open to KCC students and the general public alike, though space for the trip is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
