NURSING

Registered nurses (RNs) are health professionals who serve individuals, families and communities with actual or potential health care needs. They are leaders, communicators, advocates, educators and care providers in the management of actual and/or potential health problems.

KCC offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing and a Practical Nursing Certificate, with full-time, part-time and Advanced Placement options to fit students with diverse needs and schedules.

Advising & Transfer

KCC Nursing Program graduates may elect to continue their professional development by entering baccalaureate nursing programs that grant Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees or an RN to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.

Job Placement & Completion Rates 

Job Placement: 100% of 2019-20 associate degree graduates replying to our survey within six to nine months after graduation reported they were employed in a position related to the nursing field.

Completion Rate: 35% of KCC Associate of Applied Science in Nursing students starting the program in 2020 completed the program by 2022.

Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are qualified for employment in various settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, health clinics, schools, home health agencies, primary care agencies and hospice facilities.

KCC’s Nursing Program is the only local associate degree Nursing Program to offer a part-time program option in addition to the traditional full-time program.

State-of-the-Art Nursing Simulation

State-of-the-art, high-fidelity patient simulators are used in every KCC Nursing course. True-to-life patient simulations allow KCC students opportunities to practice providing patient care before providing nursing care to patients in a live health care setting.

Patient-centeredness is embraced utilizing a holistic caring approach incorporating culture, values, traditions and spiritual beliefs. Nursing education is research-based, reflective of health care trends, incorporating quality, patient safety, innovative technology and creative instructional methods.
